On 14th November 2018, the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) emerged winner of the 2018 Financial Reporting Award - Regulatory Bodies and Associations Category. This is the second time that the Authority is winning the Award; the first being in 2017.

The Award was in recognition and appreciation of ERA’s exceptional achievement in Financial Reporting among the Regulatory Bodies in Uganda for the Financial Year 2016/17.

The Awards ceremony was organized by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) in partnership with the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and Uganda Securities Exchange (USE).

The Awards aim at promoting Best Practices in Financial Reporting, in compliance with the International Financial Reporting Standards.

This award comes barely weeks since the Director for Financial Services at the Electricity Regulatory Authority, CPA Edward Iruura, was recognized as the “Chief Finance Officer of the Year 2018 (Public Sector Category) in the “CFO Awards” organized by ACCA Uganda in partnership with Deloitte.

CPA Iruura was recognized for his outstanding intelligence, creativity, digital knowledge, emotional intelligence, experience, vision, technical and ethical skills in respect to Financial Management.

The Electricity Regulatory Authority has over the last three years won a number of Awards and recognitions. The Awards include the “Fieldstone Africa Renewables Award” in recognition of the success of the Global Energy Transfer for Feed-in Tariff [GET FiT] program, the “Uganda Sustainable Development Award” by Public Opinions International, and the Employer of the Year Award by the Federation of Uganda Employers.
