On 6th December 2019, the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) consulted the public in respect to Tariff Review Applications for the year 2020.

In the Fourth Quarter of 2019/2020, ERA received Applications for review of Tariffs and Budget for the Year 2020, from Four (4) Licensees, namely: Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd (UEGCL), Eskom (U) Ltd, Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (UEDCL), and Umeme Limited.

In the Applications, the Licensees presented Tariffs for the year 2020; to cater for the expansion of and upgrade of the Distribution Network, to ensure System Reliability, refurbishment of Electricity Generation Plants, investment in new technologies to ensure Quality of Service and Supply, staff skills development, reduction in Energy Losses and safety of Electricity Customers.

The ERA Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Ziria Tibalwa Waako, who presided over the Public Hearing informed participants that the public hearing was convened to provide Licensees opportunity to justify the costs in their applications and for electricity consumers to critique the applications and provide their views on the suggested costs.
