Uganda’s Electricity Regulatory Framework emerged Number one for the Third time in a row in the 2020 Electricity Regulatory Index (ERI) released by the African Development Bank. The ERI is a composite index that measures the level of Development of the Electricity Sub-Sector Regulatory Frameworks in African Countries against the International Standards and Best Practice.

Uganda achieved the highest Electricity Index score at 0.801 vis-a-vis the lowest at 0.238 achieved by Chad. 36 countries participated in the index. Other African Countries including Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia, and Kenya, also performed well in the ERI.
