On 6th April 2021, the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) announced the new Electricity End - User (Retail) Tariffs Applicable for Customers served by Umeme Limited during the Second Quarter (April to June) of 2021, with a reduction in the Tariffs for Commercial and Medium Industrial Consumer Categories.

According to the Approved Tariff Schedule, Commercial Consumers will pay UGX 639.8 from UGX 642.4 and Medium Industrial Consumers will pay UGX 556.0 from UGX 560.2.

This is the Second time in a row that the Authority is reducing Tariffs for the Two (2) Consumer Categories, with the aim of supporting the Electricity Consumers to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic. 

The Tariffs for Domestic Consumers, Large Industrial Consumers, Extra Large Industrial Consumers, and Street Lighting remained the same at UGX. 750.9, UGX 361.0, UGX 301.7 and UGX 370.0, respectively.

The Authority determined the Electricity End-User Tariffs for the Second Quarter of 2021 based on changes in the Macro-Economic Factors of the International Price of Fuel, Exchange Rate of the Uganda Shilling against the United States Dollar, Core Consumer Price Index, and Energy Generation Mix.

The Tariffs are Applicable to all Electricity Consumer Bills raised by Umeme Limited, based on Meter Readings and Yaka Purchases taken in the Period April to June 2021. Download Full Tariff Schedule Here.
