Uganda has two (2) Thermal Plants contributing electricity to the national grid; Jacobsen (U) Limited and Electromaxx (U) Limited, each with an installed capacity of 50 MW.

Over the last three years, there has been a drop-in generation from non-renewable energy sources with the increased generation from renewable energy sources (Hydro and Solar). As such, thermal generation is treated as an emergency capacity.
