ERA Hosts Successful 2025 Installation Permit Conference for Classes A, B, X, and Z.

On 29th April 2025, the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) concluded the 2025 Installation Permit Conference (IPC) with resounding success. The event, hosted at Golden Tulip Hotel in Kampala, brought together licensed installation professionals from Class A, B, X, and Z, along with representatives from regulatory bodies, consumer advocacy groups, and academic institutions.

Under the theme “Wire Persons and Contractors at the Heart of Uganda’s Electricity Transformation,” the conference aimed to promote regulatory compliance, technical excellence, and professionalism across Uganda’s electrical installation sub-sector.

The sessions addressed pressing issues such as:

  • Public safety enhancement
  • Regulatory reforms and inspection protocols
  • Digitization of permit management
  • Strategies to combat vandalism of power infrastructure

ERA’s CEO, Eng. Ziria Tibalwa Waako, delivered a strong message on the rising threat of vandalism:

“Vandalism is a national crisis. It not only undermines sector investments but also endangers lives. Permit holders must lead efforts to report and prevent such acts,” she urged.

The CEO also underscored the importance of electricians serving as stewards of public infrastructure, urging adherence to high ethical and technical standards.

Participants praised the platform for its interactive approach, practical discussions, and sharing of real-world success stories. The event featured insights into sustainable energy technologies, compliance challenges, and future-focused capacity-building programs.

ERA reaffirmed its dedication to building a safe, competent, and innovative energy sector. The Authority pledged ongoing engagement with licensed professionals to ensure that Uganda’s energy future is anchored in trust, accountability, and technical excellence.
