For the period 2024/2025, UETCL Energy purchases stood at 7,024 GWh while the Energy sales to distribution licensees stood at 6,740 GWh. This translates into 11% and 12% growth in purchases and sales, respectively, as compared to 2023/2024.
Transmission energy losses are computed as a percentage of energy purchased but not sold. For the period 2024/2025, transmission energy losses performed at 4%, representing a 0.7% reduction compared to 4.7% in 2023/24. During the last 5 years, transmission losses have generally varied between 3.9% and 5%, with the maximum losses noted in 2022/23.
The energy mix remained almost the same in proportion in June 2025 compared to 2024. Hydro electricity sources (Large Hydro =78.3%, small hydro =11.7%) constituted the largest percentage (90%) of transmission purchases, and other energy sources constituted only 9.6%. Only 0.4% of UETCL’s purchases were imports.
