For the year 2025, UETCL Energy purchases stood at 7,845 GWh while the Energy sales to distribution licensees and direct customers stood at 7,573 GWh. This translates into 18% and 20% growth in purchases and sales respectively as compared to 2024. However, over the last five (5) years, UETCL purchases and sales have grown by 56% and 57% from 5,024 GWh and 4818 GWh respectively as compared to 2021.
Transmission energy losses are computed as a percentage of energy purchased but not sold. For the year 2025 transmission energy losses performed at 3.4% representing a 1.4% reduction as compared to 4.9% in 2024.
The energy mix remained almost the same in proportion by the end of 2025 compared to 2024. Hydro eelectricity sources (Large Hydro =77.7%, small hydro =12.7%) constituted the largest percentage (90.4%) of transmission purchases, and other energy sources constituted only 9.0%. Only 0.7% of UETCL’s purchases were imports.
