For the year 2025, the grid connected generation plants generated 8,021.8 GWh of energy, representing an annual growth of 18% as compared to 6,788.5 GWh in 2024. It should be noted that over the last five years, energy generation has grown by 68%.
By end of 2025, Uganda’s energy generation was dominated by hydro power plants accounting for 89%, with solar and thermal technologies generating the least share of the energy at 2% and 1% respectively.
